When we wish someone a Happy New Year, we wish for them a good year full of happiness and success. And we wish these things for ourselves as well. But do we really want a NEW year? Isaiah 43:19 reads, "See, I am doing a new thing." One of the meanings of the word 'new' is - other than the former or the old. Are we really going to do something different in 2015? To really have a new year, there should be some difference from the old year. And to do something different, a new thing, we first need to examine our lives to see where we are and then look at where we want or need to be. To have a NEW year we must be willing to let go of anything or anyone that does not honor us or our faith. We need to adjust our perspective to line up with the will of the one who created us. And we must be willing to boldly take a step in a new direction to reach the full potential that has been preordained for us.
As you celebrate New Year's Eve, whether at home, in church, or socializing with friends, think about those words, Happy New Year. Then ask yourself, am I really willing to do whatever it takes to have a NEW year?
May you have a Blessed and Happy NEW Year!
