If you are reading this, congratulations. You are alive. You have made it through more than a year in a worldwide pandemic. This was no easy feat because worldwide, 3.11 million people have died from COVID-19 with 572,000 in the United States alone. And since I am alive I am grateful for every aspect of my life. I woke up this morning with a roof over my head with electricity and running water. I selected what I wanted to eat for breakfast out of several choices of clean and wholesome foods. I had my own transportation to PT and didn't have to walk for mlles to get there. I was able to get a diagnosis and physical therapy because I have health insurance and live where there are numerous medical practitioners and facilities.
In the grocery store, It took me a minute to decide in the paper products aisle. I had to decide which toilet paper and paper towels that I wanted. One year ago, I was grabbing whatever was available, if I could find any. In the cleaning aisle, there was a wide variety of cleaning products including several brand name antibacterial wipes. I'm retired and haven't worked in several years. But because of a pension, I still had the money to purchase everything in my cart.
So today, I praise God and give God the glory for my ordinary day. I do this because I am grateful to be alive and functioning with 'a reasonable portion of health and strength,' as the old church deacons used to say. And you know, it is only by God's grace and mercy that I am alive to have an ordinary day.
