Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven." Our great God created us knowing that as humans we had the choice to do pretty much anything that one could imagine. But with every choice comes a responsibility and a consequence. The responsibility to own our choices and to accept the consequences of our actions. If I choose to play Tasty Tale all day, then I must accept the consequences of not having a meal prepared or a clean house because I did not cook or clean. If I choose watch television all night, then I must accept the consequences of not being as fit as I could because I was too tired to go to the gym. The key is living a life of balance.
When we read Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 we can clearly see the balance of life; birth and death, planting and uprooting, killing and healing. It is this dichotomy that plays out in our lives each and every day. It is when we birth a good idea that we kill a bad one. And when we choose to plant a closer relationship with God we choose to uproot the distractions of the world. Time doesn't have to disappear, and we can still engage in many of the activities that we enjoy. As long as we remember the balance between the light and dark places of our lives and the creator of that balance, we should be all right.
