Donald Trump has decided that the buck doesn't stop with him or the Republican Senate and Congress. After seven years of Republicans complaining about Obamacare (the Affordable Healthcare Act), they have been unable to repeal and replace it. Trump campaigned on repeal and replace and as far as I have heard, contributed nothing to the solution. In essence, he is saying, 'the buck doesn't stop here.' He is passing the buck and willing to sabotage a healthcare system, that though not perfect, allows over 22 million people who would not have health insurance to be covered.
Trump's leadership skills are ineffective at best and dangerous at worst. As an effective leader he could have worked to bring together bipartisan support and craft a Trumpcare that would make healthcare available and affordable for Americans. As an effective leader he could accept responsibility for the lack of a bill that even the Republicans could come together on. And as an effective leader he could hold some town hall meetings and actually listen to both positive and negative stories about the Affordable Healthcare Act, rather than hold rallies with his die-hard supporters while chanting 'Let's make America great again.'
Well I'm ready to say Let's make America great again, too. Let's take America back to the time before Trump became president. Let's go back to the time when the first African American president, was in office. President Obama was elected during one of the greatest recessions in history, yet managed to get the economy back on track in eight years. Let's go back to a time when the office of the President was admired and respected by world leaders, not laughed at. Let's go back to a time when the president made decisions and accepted responsibility for them. And let's go back to the time when there were no family scandals in the White House and people were proud to work and serve there.
Let's make America Great again. Let's call our Congresspersons and Senators and make our voices heard. Let's register to vote and vote out any and all representatives that won't listen to and represent the needs of those who elected them. And let's find and groom viable candidates that are willing to work together, even across the aisle to serve all of the people and proclaim like Harry Truman said, 'The Buck Stops Here."
