First, I learned that taking the time to celebrate ourselves does not always require money. Some of the most precious events required no money at all. Listening to a good sermon on t.v. or in person, doesn't cost a thing. Writing in my journal is free and so is having a conversation with one of my neighbors who is practicing his English. The small things can refresh your mind, body, or soul when you become conscious of what you are doing.
Taking the time to celebrate does not require a change in location. Some of my happiest memories happened at home. Nothing compares to the joy of doing yard work and cooking with my grandson. Even framing some pictures and displaying them were happy moments.
And finally, we can even celebrate ourselves when no one else is around. Going to a movie on the spur of the moment and finishing up a book I have been trying to finish for the last 4 (maybe 5) years gave me a sense of peace and accomplishment.
And sometimes just sitting outside watching nature in its finest can bring joy.
One hundred sixteen things were recorded, But as I review the list I notice that many more weren't even written down. Celebrating all through September has made me more grateful, and more attuned to what I am experiencing at the moment. I believe that when we live in the moment and take the time to pay attention to everything that is happening, we can not only celebrate our birth month. We can celebrate every day of our lives.
