The last time I used this page was for a Month of Gratitude for my birth month, last September. It was a chance to reflect on every aspect of my life.
Now we are ready for a new topic:Reclaiming Our Story
Last month during Black History Month I preached a sermon titled Reclaiming Our Story from Deuteronomy 6:1-9. As I prepared and planned for it I realized that when we look at the history of our people, people of color, in America we see a different set of facts than those presented in our schools and textbooks. With that in mind we, as a people must reclaim our story in the narrative of America and the world.
This series will be a journey of exploration probably raising more questions than providing answers. This is a new type of writing for me; part history and part memoir. Through it all I hope it brings some clarity to my story and causes you to seek out and express your stories as well.
As always I solicit your responses and comments. Because at the end of the day our stories are interwoven into the fabric of the real American History.
Let the journey begin.
